Swiss watchmaker Chopard is one of the most well known manufacturers of luxury timepieces, jewellery and accessories. Watches from Chopard combine elegance and technical refinement without any compromises in quality. Chopard is one of four exclusive watchmakers in the Fleurier Quality Foundation, regarded as a serious seal of the outmost quality.

The Chopard company was founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in Sonviller, Switzerland. After sixty years of small-scale manufacturing the company relocated to Geneva in 1920. As no one in the Chopard family was interested in continuing the family tradition, the company was sold to German watches and jewellery producer Karl Scheufele. Scheufele decided to merge his company with Chopard and continue production under the more established brand name. In 1975 a new production site is set up in Geneva and production is expanded to include women’s watches and jewellery. During the 80s and 90s Chopard strengthened its position by design innovations such as “Happy Diamonds” and opened a number of exclusive mono brand boutiques. 1996 marked a return to the company’s roots for Chopard watches when a facility for the production of the exclusive L.U.C. series movements was set up in the Jura region. During the last decade Chopard has continued its expansion with new product series, more technical advances and more than 100 stores globally.

The current line-up of Chopard watches is more diverse than ever. For men Chopard offers the L.U.C. collection, named after the company founder. These timepieces combine technical innovation and aesthetic style. All L.U.C. models have movements certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Institutet COSC and a distinctly masculine design. For the more actively inclined gentlemen Chopard has developed the Mille Miglia collection, which is inspired by the famous Italian car race. The Mille Miglia models represent a link between the worlds of automotive engineering and mechanical watchmaking.

A Chopard classic for the ladies is the Happy concept, jewellery and watches with mobile diamonds. This feature in found on the more traditionally casual Happy Sport and the modern, stylish Happy Spirit watches. Another model is the La Strada, which brings back the feminine style of the fifties.

After redesigning the Palme d’Or of the Cannes Film Festival in 1998, Chopard has maintained a close collaboration with this event. Chopard supplies watches and jewellery that are worn be many of the celebrities on the red carpet.
